One of the best things that I have ever witnessed. The songs, humor and Neil Patrick Harris are in a league of their own. Just something simple that is very funny and highly entertaining. It achieved all this in 43 minutes. It's hard to add anymore more to this as the one word to describe this viewing pleasure is "genius".

I know it's not perfect, but I'll be damned if it isn't one of the most incredibly enjoyable things I've seen in a long time. The script is incredible and hilarious, the songs are very good, and all the performances are solid. Neil Patrick Harris and Nathan Fillion are absolutely amazing. Gold. Why are people hating on the third act? It's in my opinion the best and the end is fabulous, but then not everyone gets Whedon's endings..

Totally hilarious. I don't really consider it new like some though, it runs like a mockumentary except with a blog in place of the documentary. Still it's still an absolute laugh riot. Neil Patrick Harris is hilarious and Nathan Fillion is fantastic. If you're a Whedon fan this is, without a doubt, completely essential viewing. If you're not but you enjoy goofy comedies that don't take themselves too seriously then this is still essential viewing.

Smart, funny, it's exactly what you'd expect from Whedon. The writing and direction are top notch, and the music is actually entertaining as opposed to annoying. I was hesitant to give it full marks, but I can't really think of a moment I didn't love.

Original, solid, and just pure fun......This is one of the best musicals ever produced. Great songs that I found myself hum to, and Neil Patrick is golden. Not perfect, but severly enjoyable, and it tackled by heart until I was beaten into submission. I would reccomend watching the first two episodes, and skipping the third, as it's pretty much all filler. Great series all in all.

I'm not a fan of Whedon or musicals, but this was pretty good. Neil Patrick Harris is great; he and Fillion carry the short. I don't know why people say the third act's the worst, I felt it was the strongest of the three. Worth a look.

I'm clearly missing something here? I seriously don't get the wankfest over Neil Patrick Harris for a start, he really isn't that funny or particuarly talented! I mean, this okay for what it is, with some watchable performances and some very mildly catchy tunes, but a PSI of 86? You're all mad, or high... or both?

"The Status is not Quo" Ah, the ever-expanding Whedon-verse. Who knew there'd be singing? and NPH? and Cake? (OK - there is no cake, I lied). Very Cleverly written. Well directed and acted. Better than half of the superhero films that have come out in the past 10 years.

Short musical that follows the exploits of Dr. Horrible, a super villain who is auditioning for membership in the Evil League of Evil while battling his nemesis Captain Hammer and trying to woo the girl of his dreams. There's some genuinely funny bits when they aren't singing, but unfortunately, there's a LOT of singing. The songs themselves aren't that funny or memorable.

I have nothing but absolute praise for this short musical delight. I've watched it countless times; the characters stay with you, the music captivates you, and it's just a joy to watch. I must admit that I've caught myself even singing these tunes in the shower. I await more and I'm definitely getting myself a copy of the DVD. <3

Honestly, I'm hard-pressed to find many films that are this damn-near close to being perfect. The songs are brilliant, the script is utterly hilarious, the acting feels genuine. This is easily both one of the greatest musicals and one the greatest superhero films ever produced. Not only that, but it's an incredibly convenient 42 minutes long. EDIT: Now that I'm older, I realize Dr. Horrible is literally an Incel and the film is completely uncritical about it. Gonna dock 10 points for that.

No, of course this movie isn't without flaw. Can I think of any at the moment besides a grammatical error in one of the newspapers? Nope. The music is addicting. Neil Patrick Harris is brilliant, very entertaining. Actually, the entire cast is excellent. I can't think of one moment in the film that I thought they could've changed or edited. It is my choice musical and the first one I'll recommend if asked. I can only wait patiently for a sequel which can't come soon enough.

If one were to put a finger on the pulse of why I unquestionably detest Musicals, they'd more than likely feel the rhythmical throbbing of repressed sexual tension stemming from the time I played percussion in the orchestra pit for my high school drama troupe's mostly forgettable performance of Fiddler on the Roof.

It's clear that Joss Whedon had a lot of fun with this. The ideas are brilliant and although the storyline strays into predictable Joss territory the dialogue and the music is consistently enjoyable. And anything that involves Nathan Fillion and NPH playing superhero/villains who sing is legally obliged to be awesome.

Joss Whedon is the master. NPH makes this film awesome. His singning voice is phenomenal as well as his performance. Such a simple idea, yet Whedon executes it so well you will be loving this film within 5 seconds of it starting. It is not surprising with this cast how awesome this movie is. The acting is top notch, seriously one of the better projects I have seen.

Despite the bigger "name" stars like Harris & Fillion, & getting better as it goes, this still plays like a throwaway lark. 1 imagines it was mainly inspired by Joss Whedon's desire 2 help his musically talented brother break in2 the biz. No doubt overrated b/c of its small scale, it's no surprise a musical comedy this generally light on laughs debuted on the internet. Song-wise, the solid, but mostly uninspired lyrics & almost entirely hook-free music won't leave u very much 2 sing along to.

This reminds me that the only episode of Whedon's Buffy I ever enjoyed was the musical episode. I think Whedon has his best handle on the genre, so if this slightly-derivative series didn't have music, I probably would not enjoy it nearly as much. Still, solid entertainment with a suckerpunch ending.

One can only imagine that this was some sort of passion project for the creatives involved, but it doesn't translate into anything particularly involving or memorable; Harris seems posited somewhere between a children TV host and Jack Lemmon's Professor Fate, and the remainder of the cast do their best with the odd, unfocused material. Strangely diverting enough in the moment, but ultimately forgettable.

Pretty good. I'm not really a fan of musicals, but the songs were bearable. The ending was pretty much perfect. The entirety of the character arch actually made sense and having a 'happy' ending would have ruined it. Nathan Fillion has fantastic comedic timing and Neil Patrick Harris is good. All that said, people are way to in love with this and the 3 big names of Harris, Fillion, and Whedon. Sure it's good, but nothing groundbreaking or particularly brilliant.
