A priest slaps a holy eviction notice on Dracula's pleasure castle who then gets all IT'S ON NOW PADRE so he Grand Theft Coffins his way over to the Priest's hometown to... well, do some predictable vampire stuff but you barely see that anyway since we've now switched to Douchey McWhatever protagonist man and the fun factor goes away. Lee makes Standing Still And Looking more entertaining than it should be, plus I can't not love the poster, but all in all this was kinda just Basic Vampire Movie.

The HARDEST G rating I've ever seen.

Some of the contrivances (how Drac regains life & how quickly he often flees despite his powers) stretch credulity - especially the end's string of This Needs To Happen. I also don't know why Drac killed Zena. But wow, after slashers, how much I enjoy prioritizing story! They connect each movie to the last; flesh out characters & make them distinct (atheist is a clever idea but it's not used enough); & change things (how the characters travel by rooftop & how Drac dies). Carlson's a beauty too

This all started to get a little creaky by '68 but it's harmless. Best poster of all time. Actually has a nice little romance buried in it and Freddie Francis has typically good camerawork.

A whole boatload of nothing happens, but it looks stylish and takes full advantage of the color cinematography. From all the ones I've seen, Lee's probably at his best here-- it's hard to imagine how difficult it is to act getting stabbed in the chest multiple times with ludicrously large objects in a movie and still come off as menacing afterward.

May not be as epic as the Terence Fishers, but one thing I will say - watch it all the way to the end before judging. Striking visuals.

One thing I've noticed about these Hammer Dracula films is the fact that Dracula himself is barely in them. Christopher Lee just had retched teeth it fit with the character but damn. Why is Dracula such a pussy in this? Any time a guy shows up he runs away. I still enjoyed this movie because it's fun to watch, it's one of those films you can mock and enjoy at the same time both alone and with friends. I loved the rooftop view and sets they had great atmosphere and were quite elaborate.

I have never understood how a vampire can choose between killing their victim or turning them into a vampire. I am sure I could just look this up, but I also like living in a world of mystery.

Standard Hammer Horror fare. Fun stuff but nothing special.

Francis took over the directorial reins from Terence Fisher for Hammer Films's third Dracula - Lee vehicle, and the result, while visually striking (Francis is an Oscar-winning cinematographer), is a major step down dramatically.

Possibly the most poorly written and directed Dracula movie ever made. Asinine special effects.. Most of the acting performances were boring, lifeless, or unconvincing. Dracula was vacant, hokey, and lacked any sort of charisma. Truly a pathetic production.

Interesting premise, but ultimately I think not very well executed. Barbara Ewing looks great in lingerie.

This definitely requires a re-watch since it's been so long since first viewed I don't remember much except that I liked it visually.

Lots of religious symbolism, colorful lighting effects, and a memorable scene of Lee pulling a bloody five-foot wooden stake from his own heart.

This film's plot interestingly makes extensive use of Dracula's ability to entrance or enrapture his victims. Many other Dracula films either only mention this in passing or ignore it altogether. However, aside from this plot point, there's little to recommend this film. Lee makes his usual scene-stealing performance as the antagonist, but the rest of the plot and the acting is pure boredom.

Call me crazy, but I liked this one more than Horror of Dracula. The style and atmosphere lacking in the original was present here. The use of colors and shadows was excellent, and sets and matte effects were superb. All of the actors did commendable jobs, especially Lee, who absolutely shines as Dracula. I know it's more popular to prefer the first one, but Dracula Has Risen from the Grave just really clicked with me.
