WAY too much dopey comedy and only 2 fight sequences, neither of which is anything special. Jackie mostly fights with headbutts and wild haymakers: there's almost no discernable kung fu on display here at all.

HK Theatrical Cut. By the time the real action starts, the movie is already over. All the goofing off really felt like a prologue instead of the main story. I liked that they took Jackie Chan's power level down a bit. Chan loves his wordplay but sadly it is lost on non-Cantonese speakers. Fav scene: the shuttlecock match makes the whole film worth watching. It's a creative twist on typical kung fu action.

Couple nice scenes like the bamboo pyramid and the soccer game, otherwise Jackie just gets into mischief and fights. The end fight here is brutal and wonderful at the same time.

Dragon Lord was a pretty lackluster movie. I love the way most Jackie Chan movies combine action and comedy but this movie seemed to go too far into the comedy side of things. Maybe that comedy would have made more sense in the mother tongue, but in English it just seemed childish and not very interesting. I enjoyed the shuttlecock soccer match and the final fight between Chan and the Big Boss were highlights of the film, but everything else about the movie was lackluster.

This get a lot of charm from Jackie Chan and Mars playing loveable rascals, even tho they are a bit too old for their parts. Not everything is always as engaging, there is a lot of wordplay humor that doesn't work cause is lots in translation. There are only a few fight scenes, including the more than adequate final one against the menacing Big Boss. However the real action highlight of this is the amazing kung-fu shuttlecock football game, for which it will live on in my memory.

The barn sequence is fantastic and totally justifies the movie but there is a lot of rough road to get there - including the infamous shuttlecock soccer which took millions of takes but is just way too long for its own good and should have been cut down by a lot.
