Despite its formulaic story and overall cheesiness, this movie is immensely enjoyable. I mean, you have Sean Connery as a frikkin' dragon - what more do you need? WHAT, I SAY?!?

Well. I was shocked to look up the rankings of my so-called mates, and find a tragic irony in the fact, that a movie called something with 'heart' is ranked by people who clearly have none.

Cheerfully daft knights-and-lords-and-dragons pablum that reminds me of the generic fantasy novels I inhaled by the dozens as a kid (and still do after dark when no one's looking, of course). Dennis Quaid hardly screams "medieval knight" but Sean Connery is perfect as Draco's voice and Randy Edelman's score is an inexplicable masterpiece from a composer who's barely written a memorable measure since.

I think Sean Connery is an excellent choice to voice the dragon. I really enjoy this fantasy movie every time I watch it. There is nothing really ground breaking with this film it is just fun to watch.

Watched it thinking, "Oh, a Braveheart sequel". Man, was I dissapointed. I mean, Dennis Quaid doesn't even LOOK like Mel, let alone spout off anti-Semetic taunts.

It's hard to argue that this movie is perfect. Far from it. This is a picture riddled with issues throughout. Aside from that, the true heart of the story as well as the film itself comes from the Dragon itself. The animation and voice performance that made Draco carries the film to success. Sean Connery lends his very distinctive voice to a character which is wonderfully three dimensional in all possible ways.

Like dragons? Then you'll love this light hearted fantasy fare, probably intended for slightly older children, featuring Dennis Quaid as a knight that teams with the last of the dragons (voiced by Sean Connery) to overthrow evil prince David Thewlis. Julie Christie as Thewlis's suffering mother & Pete Postlewaite as Quaid's monk companion lend spice & variety to the cast.

This film feels like a poor man's Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves, with the dual added gimmicks of a CGI dragon and Sean Connery. The action works reasonably well, but the humor falls flat on its ass every time. Most damningly, the script has no strong, consistent character arcs whatsoever. You can tell a script needs work when the protagonist effectively commits genocide and nobody cares.

Who wouldn't love a dragon with a ready supply of James Bond-style quips? This is featherweight fun and escapism of the highest order, which uses and exploits Connery's iconic status about as well as Indiana Jones did, matching him against an earnestly heroic Quaid who plays his role about as well as possible. Even manages a majestic sweep for its battle scenes, thanks to Edelman's gloriously rousing score (destined to back many an Oscars montage!) Just good, old-fashioned goofy fun.

This is not a good movie but there is such a lack of interesting fantasy the last 15 years or so (besides LoTR) that I will take what I can get. Quaid probably was not the best option for this but I really enjoyed Connery, Postlethwaite and David Thewlis.

The last of the great dragon slayers, Bowen (Dennis Quaid) teams up with the last of the great dragons, Draco (and voiced by Sean Connery), after they realize that killing each other would put them both out of business! So they devise a bogus dragon-slaying act that's a huge hit as they tour from village to village. Later, they must rouse the peasantry against the loutish Prince Einon (David Thewlis), whose life was once saved by Draco.

If you're expecting a film for grown-ups you're in for a disappointment. Quaid is average at best and the animation around the dragon is the best bit of the film. Predictable in parts but with an ending that wouldn't be out of place in a good Disney epic. Kids will love it - bit of an Arthurian knock-about sub-text. Harmless fun

The acting is bad, the setting looks bad, and the story is really really stupid. It's only real saving grace is that the dragon looks decent. Also, the jokey parts were kind of funny once I came to terms with the idea of them trying to add comedy to what I thought was supposed to be a serious fantasy movie.

Maybe it happens to me what I see in others that love fantasy movies watched being kids and I didn't, and once adult I think they're crap or just decent (some of them, of course there're also great ones for every age that I love too). I don't know if it's nostalgia, or if I would still think this movie is great watching it first time nowadays, but I love it and I know it was important for me. And the soundtrack... simple, but it's still very emotive, it works. But my PSI 36? I can't believe it.

When I was a kid, I totally had the "Dragonheart" dragon toy. Re-watching was fun, because of the presence of several actors who later became semi-famous: David Thewlis is Professor Lupin and Jason Isaacs is Lucius Malfoy in the Harry Potter movies. Props to the makeup artists for not covering Dina Meyer in unrealistic makeup: she looked pretty, but still like a peasant, throughout the whole movie.

This is very much like a cheap fantasy flick from the 80's only with a surprisingly talented cast slumming their way through this nonsense. I generally like this sort of thing, but this story is so shoddily incoherent that it makes Lucio Fulci's "Conquest" seem like a well-crafted yarn. It's just not much fun and feels like nobody involved gave a damn.
