OK take on the magazine but it just didn't have much impact on me.

Conventionally structured, self congratulatory and entirely predicable, this vastly overrated documentary is essentially a gigantic circle jerk that lacks critical balance. In the end, it's just a bunch of ageing comics reminiscing about the good old days of the 70's and early 80's, which seem like the wild west of entertainment compared to now, but it's hardly riveting viewing, and it fails to recontextualise the magazine for a modern audience who would be largely unaware of its influence.

Self contradictory and romanticized history of the group, but it's damn entertaining. I knew nothing about the magazine other than that there was one before the movies, so it was fun to get a taste of what kind of publication it was.

Sooooo good to get the National Lampoon into context. I've only grown up with the films, so to see where it all came from and how it branched out basically became the comedy I grew up with was an awesome belated education. The pieces came into place. I wish this was a 1000-piece documentary for 1 wasn't nearly enough!
