I knew I was watching something special when a giant ninja exploded into 6 smaller ninjas, who then exploded into naked women.

HIlariously awesome ninja mayhem! The final duel is among the best in martial arts cinema (next to Hiroshi Inagaki's Samurai III: Duel on Ganryu Island [1956]).

Two words: NINJA MAYHEM. This flick has so much awesome ninja crap, it hurts. There's a giant ninja, exploding ninjas, ninjas who fly on paper kites, Bugs Bunny-style burrowing ninjas, a naked female ninja with a huge net, you name it. It's Japan vs China in a sword swinging, limb hewing, finger ripping extravaganza. A bit talky in the middle, but ninjas more than make up for that.

A conventional martial arts movie with some nice fight scenes and nice visuals.

I bought this movie semi-blindly, having just seen the trailer. It showed me spectacles like ninjas flying through the air on kites, burrowing ninjas, and a giant ninja, and while I did get to see all that promised wackiness, the rest of the movie ended up mostly un-memorable.

Plot is not very involving, but if my memory serves me right , I have never seen ninjas to do so many crazy stuff. Like female ninja flying in air, ripping off her clothes and launching net from god knows where. Or ninjas flying on kites. Or huge ninja splitting into handful of smaller ninjas. Shit, if I was kung-fu master I still wouldn't want to fight no damn ninjas. No way.

Viewed November 18, 2021. A fast and frenetic ninja movie directed by Ching Siu-Tung in his debut. The last half-hour is non-stop inspired action, where getting hit by a sword causes people to explode, and limbs are sliced off with reckless abandon and blood geysers shoot up out of the dirt. It's a marvel to behold.

Watch it for the ninjas. They are worth it, obviously.

How does a movie with ninjas rising up from out of the ground end up being overall boring?

Reports of this movie’s ninja related batshit craziness may not have been outright lies but have most certainly omitted that all these beautiful moments about the violent demise of Ninja are but 5% of the running time and the other 95% are not particularly engaging scenes of dialogue that could probably have been easier to follow had somebody not decided to a. Cast all Japanese characters with Chinese actors and b. Give the two opponents that look quite similar already identical haircuts.

Decent action, zero story. Even for a kung fu movie.

Lots of creatively ridiculous ninja magic in this one, which is very cute at its best, but most of the wire-aided, heavily edited fighting left me cold. I would have liked to see a ninja-infested wuxia film displaying some real choreography and skill. The script is godawful, too.

Ching Siu-Tung is one of my favorite fight choreographers, and this is his masterpiece!
