Memorable for Lorne Greene's spectacular delivery of the line "Dammit, Barbara, give me your pantyhose!"

Pretty elaborate for the day.

Gloriously cheesy disaster film is indefensible on any other level other than so-wretched-it's-good, however for the most part, the special effects during the earthquake sequences hold up quite well (besides the bizarre elevator crash). Bottoms out somewhat in the second hour, but the establishing scenes achieve a kind of hypnotically bad brilliance, with goofy lines all round; my favourite from Heston: "I'll induce vomiting. I know the rules by now."

Alternates between boring and ridiculous, but never good. It is kind of amusing to see builings collapse on people for minutes on end, though I doubt that was the original intention.

So over the top ridiculous it can never be taken seriously. Everyone is an asshole.

I'm sure this was exciting in the 70s', but watching this movie in 2014 it is difficult to look beyond the ancient effects. 30/100.

The movie was well done but it had lots of faults. None of the characters were very likable and most weren't fleshed out well. The special effects while dated still work well for the most part. that movie does tend to drag during the middle and also features quite lame comedic moments. Its fun but definitely not the best of the bunch.

So much fun. They don't make movies like this anymore but they should.

Marjoe Gortner makes this worth seeing alone (though for thew wrong reasons). Incredibly trashy

easily the most thoroughly boring disaster movie i've ever seen.

Mostly lame disaster movie. There are cool stunts and effects shots here and there but the all-star cast is a bigger spectacle than the destruction. Also a good twenty minutes too long.

Classic disaster film seems very dated now.

This is a mediocre disaster film. Some of the special effects are definitely good for the time period the film was made. There are a lot of characters but there are not many that you really care about. Overall this movie is disappointing.

A semi-all-star soap opera plays out before and after an earthquake which effectively obliterates Los Angeles. One of the weaker entries in the 70s disaster-film cycle, with a terrible script (even Walter Matthau's comic drunk isn't funny) and lazy acting filling the time between the Oscar-winning special effects, which run hot (the miniatures and matte work) and cold (the infamous elevator scene with quasi-giallo cartoon blood). The Oscar-winning SenSurround mix holds up pretty well, however.

Solid movie. Considering this was when computer effects were nowhere near as impressive as nowadays, this was truly a great disaster movie.
