Ecstasy

Even though this is a wonderful movie, there's some weird scenes that seem misplaced.

Between the beautiful cinematography and the very sparse dialogue this looks and feels like a silent film. Still, it's a bit light on substance.

The film that single-handedly created the "Censorship Revolution". For being brave and not bowing to the Victorian nonsense ideas of; morality, I give the film a large, high score. The film itself is over-rated as it is much longer than it should have been; given what it was. This was one of the longer films of the era and the lace of direction shows. That said, the film is a must see for fans of cinema. If it wasn't for this film, such greats as Emmanuel would have never graced the screen!

É conhecido por ter a representação do primeiro orgasmo feminino e a primeira nudez full frontal de um filme que não seja stag, ou seja, do cinema comercial. Mas me pergunto se hoje ele seria tão famoso só por isso é não porque é estrelado pela futura estrela hollywoodiana e gênia das ciências Hedy Lamarr. No mais é um filme melhor que eu esperava, lida com questões de classe e atração física, em certo sentido me remeteu ao Por um Destino Insólito da Wertmuller, numa montagem bem eisensteiniana.

Gustav Machatý, the man behind Erotikon (1929), returns with something more erotic. So full of sin that it was trashed by the freakin' pope! Ekstase sharpened the censure laws as it featured a topless Hedy Lamarr and a simulated sex scene. That was too much those with power in those days. The movie is almost silent only with limited dialog and sound effects/music. And Machatý moves us slowly through the love story. A bit too slow. But the imagery is beautiful enough and draws you in.....

Machaty uses gorgeous camera angles and sadly that's all. not better than Erotikon.
