Very slow paced-the story covers a lot of years but it is a poignant, beautifully told story of friendship with the most incredible cinematography.

tam olarak takip ettiğim, ara ara videolarını asmr niyetine izlediğim martijn doolaard'ın filmdekine aynen benzeyen kulübesini inşa ettiği coğrafyada geçtiği için filmi ayrı bir sevdim.

undoubtedly one of the standout European films of the last few years. maybe tries a little too hard to hit you over the head with poignancy at times but is a beautifully bittersweet portrayal of male friendship and the visuals are obviously stunning

So many beautiful landscapes but The Eight Mountains is not just a pretty mountain face. It's a complex and heartfelt story of fatherly and brotherly love. The film takes its time and it is maybe a little too long, but the slow pace is essential for taking in and appreciating the visual and emotional journey. The central question and comparison of the two men's lives is simple but profound and despite some of the darker valleys the story takes us to, I think, quite inspiring.

Some elements of the plot left me cold, maybe because as a thirty-something aging out of hipsterdom the Pietro character hits too close to home. The landscape and hiking cinematography are jaw-dropping.

The Eight Mountains explores the accumulation of stories that shape a life, rather than tidy resolutions or neat arcs. Pietro and Bruno's diverging and converging paths reveal their shared experiences and differences. The film evolves into an intimate epic, where the two men aren't overshadowed by their grand surroundings. They become as much a part of the defining landscape as the grass and trees, highlighting the intricate nature of their relationship and lives.

"The Eight Mountains" is a breathtaking cinematic experience that must be admired on the biggest screen possible. The stunning cinematography and intimately epic story are a balance between the cold and distant struggles of the leading characters and their comfort being side-by-side at their most grueling moments.

I admit I was in the right mood for a slow, almost soothing, cinematic experience. Because that's exactly what it is.

has a much more serious tone than the book (whose first half is hilarious), but still very decent!
