El Crimen del padre Amaro

Worthwhile critique of the human side of religious institutions with some quite good performances, but it does get a little overly melodramatic towards the end.

Enjoyable film but not one of Bernals better films. Still, it is an interesting story and beautifully shot.

Based on E de Queiros's very old novel, movie is taking us to the world of catholic church and how much this institution really cares about people. Its not anymore eyeopening story, however very sad and makes viewers angry. If it gets any emotion out of you, movie is succeeded. Otherwise its on the level of soap opera.

Over-rated even though the story is explosive.
