A beautifully shot film that makes fantastic use of lighting giving a grand sense of scale without having to rely on birds eye view. The film is steeped in the politics of its time and is thus extremely pro-Arab to such a degree it neglects Saladin's Kurdish origins; however, I find this fascinating in how it parallels Nasser's calls for Arab unity. despite its biases, the film is still willing to show the nuances of faith and there's fascinating interplay between Muslim and Christian actors.

Fascinating. Very much Egyptian or Arab propaganda but once you get past that and the shoddiness of it all it's quite an enjoyable film.
