El azima

The first Egyptian film from the 1930s I've seen. And it's good on several levels. Some songs, but that served more or less as intermissions to the social drama that was going on in between. The story is a little lightweight compared rest of the worlds cinema, but apparently for Arabic films from that time this was a shift in climate to stronger film making. Kept my attention even if there was down parts. For finishing it one is awarded with a fantastic festivities brawl at the end!
