Expected something far more 80s trashy from the DVD cover, but was pleasantly surprised; while not perfect, this is a nicely understated movie with both heart and eyes and no hurry to spell everything out for the viewer. Promising debut.

Visually it is a feast. The images are beautiful and tell you a lot without needing to use words. The music and the soundscapes are also fitting for the dream-like landscape, plus Julia Garner embodies curiosity and innocence just through her eyes. Rory Culkin really just keeps cutting his acting chops in everything that I see him in. There were times when I was asking 'why would they do that' and it made me way too aware of 'just' watching a movie. Otherwise, I really liked it.

It's quite intriguing at first, but then goes on to rely mainly on whimsy and on the beauty of its protagonist.

Not worth watching in my opinion. It was difficult for me to take seriously after awhile. Started out decently, but drastically went down hill, and fell extremely short of good.

A stunning debut from Rebecca Thomas, confident and self-assured. Unlike most new filmmakers she has a strong grip on her themes - and they are deep ones, tackling faith - and a real love for her characters. Julia Garner gives a great, sympathetic performance as the naive lead, alone in modern society for the first time. Maybe a bit too "perfect" at times, relying heavily on some coincidence, but it's otherwise so good as to make that only a minor criticism.

Beautifully shot with an intriguing concept. The acting was pretty good, but the plot really lacked direction and the film suffered from the aimlessness.

Sweet, funny, entertaining, and a great soundtrack! Plus Julia Garner is gorgeous and Rory Culkin is awesome!
