Elia Kazan: A Director's Journey

Standard presentation of the director's work, essentially consisting of Kazan chatting about his films, sprinkled with clips and some filler voiceover. Tiptoes around the issue of naming names.

This doc covers Kazan's career essentially by having Richard Schickel film Kazan as he talks about his films in chronological order. It's interesting, but hardly a very critical look at his filmography (although Kazan is fairly unhappy with "Gentleman's Agreement"). Pretty much nothing is said about Kazan's personal life.

Doesn't go super deep into the man, but gives us a nice chronological walkthrough of his Hollywood career with plenty of clips from his movies along the way.
