Elle s'appelle Sabine

Sandrine Bonnaire's (of Vagabond, among others) personal documentary about her autistic sister. After spending 5 years in an institution without a specific diagnosis, Sabine comes back considerably more damaged. The film is a little repetitive at times, alleviated somewhat by focusing on some of the other residents in Sabine's home, but overall it's a revealing portrait with some profoundly touching moments.

Intimate, engrossing and powerful.
