What's the big deal about this movie, again?

Beautiful, never boring and a rare succesful attempt by Scandinavian hands to do something "french" (blerch) and actually pulling it off. It would propbably score in the high seventies if it wasn't for that god-awful and embarrasingly amatuerish soundtrack. Watch 5 minutes of this and you'll know exactly what I mean. Recommended for those who wish to be hold hostage by classical music the same way one is by a pop song in a mall.

Incredibly beautiful. It feels over-the-top romantic and cheesy at first, which is of course intentional, but it pays off to stick with it. Absolutely haunting, with a great, great ending.

Slowly good. Why do we need to be selfish? Can't we love in a way that is good for everybody involved?

Lovely, certainly, but awfully slow-paced. It's just so very... artistic.

Quite good, as period romance films go, with a sharp and precise ending.

Very pretty cinematography for a very simple tale of runaway lovers. Plays as a festival of amorous banalities, slowly turning into something more somber, as reality seeps in.
