The conceit is really silly and emos feel dated (are you still a thing? apologies), but the satire is biting and surprisingly effective ("Electrified" is awfully poignant). Believable young stars and diverse characters, clever jokes, and catchy tunes outweigh too-light treatment of suicidal ideation, a predictable format, and the silliness to produce a charming and funny picture.
