The "rivalry" between Cook and Sheppard was painful to watch, and having Simpson as the prize for their efforts was confusing. Why would two men compete for the affection of a blow-up doll?

Plot: Insert Dane Cook into the typical Adam Sandler role from ten years ago, with a blond love interest and smarmy rival character. Voila.

All-around poor comedy on several levels. There are a few moments where humor shimmers through the garbage, but they are few and far between. Unambitious and forgettable.

The movie reconfirmed my belief that Jessica Simpson while pretty cannot act at all. Amazingly I didn't find Cook that annoying, and I wish I had thought of the idea of playing golf after closing when I worked at a department store. The film is a true depiction of what happens when competition for a girl gets in the way of friendship. Is it more important to be Employee of the Month and hang w/J-Simp or to play cards with Andy Dick. Sorry I can't give u the answer, you will have to watch.

Dane Cook isn't funny. Dax Shepard isn't funny. Jessica Simpson isn't good at anything. This movie wasn't funny. This movie wasn't funny. This movie wasn't funny. It was bad.

It has it's moments here and there, but not enough to recommend to anyone. A movie too generic.

You can tell Cook is still trying to figure out how to translate his talent to the big screen, but the movie is a lot of fun and a decent first attempt at film for Dane Cook.

This movie has its high points and its low points. The storyline is pretty good especially the redemption twist. The comedy is just ok. The actors were ok, not spectacular, but not horrible. Overall, it is not the best movie of its kind, but it is worth watching for some laughs. If you like the movie, "Office Space", you might like this one as well.

Maintains an authentic workplace a la office space, but Dane Cook's stereotypical humor ruins an already self-deprciating film.

As much as I think Dane Cook has no place in acting, this movie was funnier than I expected. With a better cast -- namely, replacing Cook and Jessica Simpson with two real actors -- this could have been a decent film.

Dimensionless characters, juvenile humor, indifference all around. While I normally don't get hung up on technical details, the lighting was terrible, like they filmed in depressing warehouse with hand held camcorders and just relied on what light there was. The overall mood of the film is depressing and soul sucking. It's obvious that no one involved in the film cared about the final product, so why should you?

For a classic type of mainstream comedy, this was actually quite good. I found it on Netflix and watched it as I was working out at home, so I had no expectations. Even though the plot in this sort of movie doesn't surprise much, it still made me want to see how it ended. Dane Cook and Dax Shepard are great in such comedy roles. Jessica Simpson can't act, unfortunately, but she's only there to look good and show cleavage. So don't worry about her. It's the guys who take up the most screen time.

Hilarious comedy with Jessica Simpson (you know, the girl from the Adam Green song... "Jessica Simpson, where did your love go, it's not in your music..."). Only it wasn'y hilarious. Features Pedro from Napoleon Dynamite.

I feel like the premise of this movie could work on a short film level. Two guys battling to become Employee of the Month at a big box store has the chance for some funny moments (and this movie does have a few funny moments). The problem is when they introduce a bunch of stuff to drag it out feature length that is forgettable and boring.

This by-the-numbers love story is made more bearable with excellent casting. The story itself is an interesting take on the guy changes himself to get the girl formula of romantic comedies. I really wish Harland Williams was in more stuff. Why do people not credit him with being the comic genius that he is? The rest of the cast is a smash-up of early 2000's top of the world stars. Jessica Simpson plays a cute girl and she does it pretty well. Dane Cook tries to be as likable as Andy Dick.

Standard, Incredibly formulaic (hence unfunny) comedy. But on the plus side, Dane Cook is slightly less intolerable in this film than in his stand-up. A few touching moments, but not enough to make up for the unfunny jokes. Also, I;ve always secrely dreamed of having a secret, hidden break room like these guys had.

In the hierarchy of films released into theaters, Employee of the Month is the "box boy" of entertainment. It's an entry-level endeavor that no one expects much out of, doesn't have any aspirations to be anything more than it is, and no one remembers once their entertainment experience is over.

Now *this* was a pleasant surprise – nothing groundbreaking or revolutionary, but a snappily paced, genuinely good hearted comedy that takes a timeworn comic premise and runs with it – while you could never accuse this cast of being a murderer’s row, they all fit and fire off together in interesting and amusing ways, particularly Cook, Simpson and Shepherd (and their various permutations), though the film is stolen by some beautiful deadpan work from Ramirez as Shepherd’s doe-eyed lackey.
