Enemy Gold

Top badass moment? A movie entirely populated by 90’s clichés. And I do mean entirely. Some FBI agents and drug dealers do their stuff in an X-rated episode of “Miami Vice”, as we’re treated to exploding people, exploding helicopters, and way too many shoulder pads and implants. Competently made, it’s otherwise truly awful. However, it reminded me of playing Pong on a small, black & white TV - there's nothing interesting about it, yet it’s oddly engrossing. No cats, chainsaws or decapitations.

I kept my expectations in check and was not disappointed. This has the makings of a straight to video softcore plot, though it's done rather earnestly to the point when I wondered if it would have been a better PG cut without the '90s fake boobs and a shower scene after every fight. Fav scenes: great heads-up play to shoot the flare into the building; terrible bantering during the standoff until even the bad guy says "enough small talk."

It is what it is, a Sidaris movie, Simpson is a real beauty and Strain is always fun. Ridiculous explosions are good for a laugh.

It's slightly better than the average Sidaris film because of the Civil War flashbacks where some minor costume effort is put. Still this film still uses the same plot, crappy props and vehicles. Not good or even so bad it's good, however.
