Enraged Sun, Enraged Sky

Imagine Wenders, Resnais, Pasolini, Tsai, Weerasethakul, Reygadas, Medem, and latter day Van Sant all getting together for one big circle jerk. The resulting bucket of sperm would be something like this movie. Big, ambitious, messy, indulgent, sprawling, uneven, but kind of glorious all at once.

As outrageously and gloriously pretentious as Genet's Un Chant d'Amour and twice as ravishing, there's so many echoes of and so much interplay between experimental and classical cinema, in terms of style and formal structure, and after one exquisitely composed and choreographed shot after another, my head was spinning.
