A princess sends out something powerful enough to overthrow an evil empire that ends up in the possession of a blonde farmboy who, after the death of his uncle, is taken in by a wise old man who teaches him to unlock his hidden mystical skills as they travel to join a band of rebels. Man, Star Wars is such a great movie.

Everything Lord of the Rings and the Harry Potter movies did to bring respect back to the fantasy movie genre, Eragon went and flushed down the toilet. There is NOTHING good about this movie. The acting is terrible (I'm looking at you Malkovich), the dialogue sounds like it was written by a third grader, and better dragon CG can be found watching a Geico lizard commercial. 1 point awarded for the feeling of relief I felt when the film was finally over.

Sweet mother of God this is really terrible. The story is terrible. The characters are shallow as hell. The dialog is full of cliche garbage. The action is crap. Why are there good actors in this? WHY? The only positive is that the dragon pet itself looks cute when it's a baby. On a side note the RiffTrax on this is hilarious and makes an otherwise unbearable film watchable.

This is my least favorite movie of all time. I can sit through movies I am not enjoying. I even willing watch bad movies because I find them hilarious. This is 1 of the 2 movies I have turned off before it ended because of how bored/pissed I was. I might have been able to stomach my way through and rank it a 5 or 10 had I not read they book. They BUTCHERED the book. They need to do with this film exactly what they did with E.T. the game, take all copies out to the desert and bury them.

Horribly paced. They skipped so many scenes and a headache all around. I really can't stomach this film at all. While CG made the dragon cute, the rest of the movie was horribly ruined by them betraying the book every step of the way. Laughably bad (once you get over your anger) if you've read the book. Probably enjoyable if you haven't.

Awful British Lord of the Rings knock-off. Special effects are garbage, story is garbage, acting is garbage, script is garbage, action is garbage, music is garbage, garbage garbage garbage. Can't remember the last time I was this bored in a movie. What a piece of shit. And speaking of shit, watching a hippopotamus lay an enormous turd at the zoo would be more entertaining than watching Eragon. One of the worst movies I've ever seen.

Jeremy Irons. Robert Carlyle John Malkovich. Sounds like a great movie there, doesn't it? I will admit, the only reason I bought this was to round out the Jeremy Irons collection (both this and Dungeons and Dragons were bought at the same time) and the only reason I watched it was because I figured there had to be something redeeming with so many good actors. I was wrong. Easily the worst movie I have ever seen-and what's worse is that the movie is a step up on the book.

This movie was based on the book. The major flaw was that the movie left out alot of sections of the book. The characters relationships were too quick and left the movie viewer confused and perplexed. This movie was took quick. It didnt flow and cover all the main points like the book did.

I knew what to expect from Eragon the moment I saw John Malkovich. Sitting there in his own sly way and using his rather strange blend of American accent and precise pronunciation, it just doesn't seem right. As if he's mocking the production before it has even begun, only he knows the prolonged trials that you as a viewer have yet to sit through. Maybe that's just my personal feeling. Simplistic, clichéd, half-arsed, LotR 'inspired' cack. Except for the design of the dragon, which is damn good.

It's well established that this story is basically an amalgamation of various fantasy/sci-fi stories that Paolini enjoyed as a kid, but the story isn't why this is bad. It's rushed. It's poorly edited. The sad thing is, there's good actors involved! There's no doubt this was thrown together in an attempt to capitalize on the popularity and success of the LOTR, but everything here is an absolute failure of, dare I say? "Epic" proportions.

Man, I totally love movies based off of plagiarized literary diarrhea. Wait; no, I don't. I'd voice some shock that Irons and Malkovich would allow themselves to be in this film, but they were both in Man in the Iron Mask, so I guess I can't give them too much credit when it comes to picking their roles. This film should have Tolkien, George Lucas, and Jane Yolen in the writing credits for providing original content, because Paolini has nothing new to offer to the world. Cheesy and bland.

If you liked the book, you'll hate this movie. It bares no relation to it what so ever. The only good thing in the film, bar the dragon being cute as a baby, is Jeremy Irons performance and even that has issues. The whole film is disjointed. It feels like the notes for the actual plot were filmed without being fleshed out as it jumps around. the acting for the most part is pretty horrendous, the dialogue sucks, and while the action looks good in parts it doesn't come close to saving the film

I'm reading the book, and so far find it better than the film. I can appreciate the story and values and values the film tried to tell, but I felt that, A) too much story was attempted an hour and a half film (don't know why it couldn't have been longer) and also B) that the film seemed as though it was trying to be on an epic scale but fell short, in both story and special effects. The dragon, however, is beautiful!

It's hard for me, personally, to rate a movie about dragons poorly, especially when the dragon might be the best part about the movie. Scratch that, it's the only semi-decent part. This movie destroys the original script in more ways than I can count - whoever adapted this movie needs to never try book adaptations again. My rating is generous.

Eragon is a really funny film, although that wasn't its goal. Despite being quite hilarious, it fails on practically every level. Characters aren't developed and their actions don't make sense, the plot is simple and nothing here will surprise you, and the action scenes aren't all that fun. This is a film that looks good, but that's about all that works with this film. Unless you're a young child, in which case this will be the best movie ever, this is a miss, even for fans of the book.

Let's face it, even if it was a faithful adaptation of the book it still would have sucked. But even as a tween who didn't mind the book I still recognized what a dreadful piece of shit this movie was. They changed so much and simplified an already simplistic and trite fantasy story even further, leaving out many elements crucial to the plot, changing character motivations entirely, and the awful pacing results in a lack of proper development. Oh, and the acting...do I really need to go there?

Perhaps the worst book to film adaptation ever. I loved the book, my imagination was blown, my world was changed forever. I eagerly anticipated the film based on the lovable 600 page novel. The novel was condensed intp an hour and a half. They left out some the major plot devices in the beginning. The ending battle is why this film even gets a score. Without atleast the accuate ending this film would have been thrown down the drain with a score of zero.

A terrible parody of the fantasy genre. The best parodies come from people who love the genre they're making fun of - see Pegg's Shaun of the Dead which playfully pokes fun at the conventions of the zombie genre. Not here. This is a bitter bile-fuelled mockery of the fantasy genre by people who harbour a deep-rooted aggression towards it. Every single element of this film is based around taking fantasy staples and stripping them into shallow hateful shadows of their former selves.
