This really could have been a great film, but the script sucks. "Anna" is an unnecessary character, the bad guys are too over the top, the daughter "Amy" is mentally deranged and idiotic, and most of the early interactions by "Brad" showcase none of his skills. With its raw ingredients, this could have been a great film, instead it's a fourth-rate "Bourne Identity" ripoff with the daughter taking the place of the girlfriend. Only watch if you have swallowed poison and need to vomit.

Very much like "Taken" in basic plot and general feel (and apparently I was not the only one that noticed the similarity), except only a tiny fraction as much fun. Aaron Eckhart, pretty as he is, needs a real director to coax a performance out of him (see "Rabbit Hole).

Looks like someone's seen Taken, Unknown, and any other action movie Liam Neeson has made. They plot here, though, is harder to follow, and the action feels much less fresh.

If this film interests you, just watch Taken. If you have already seen Taken, watch it again. If you must watch something similar to, but not Taken, watch the The Equalizer.

I wish I had bad taste like the reviewers on Amazon so I could enjoy this movie. Oh snap. It's not totally boring but it is stupid.

A clear attempt to cash in on modern Liam Neeson vehicles, The Expatriate is one of the most by-the-numbers action/thrillers I've ever seen. Growing increasingly infuriating as every minute passes by, there's not an ounce of originality here whatsoever. Story: dull. Direction: bland. Acting: wooden. Tension the film so desperately strives for: you must be joking. If you've never watched a similar film before this'll just be mediocre; if you've sat through similar shit many times you'll hate it.

Erased has some of my favorite actors, but my new least favorite director: Philipp Stölzl, and writer: Arash Amel! Aaron Eckhart is damn good with performances ranging from Meet Dave to Dark Night! And Olga Kurylenko with her charming performances in Quantum of Solace and Hitman! But this film really give their characters in this film were flat and boring, I couldn't get interested, I couldn't care, I hated this film. It was like taken with lower stakes and more boring characters!

Why do they have a crying daughter to action movies so stupid. I would be pumped if my dad was a badass.

A lackluster spy/action film. Aaron Eckhart was trying to play a character like Neeson's in Taken but didn't quite pull it off. I felt sorry for Olga Kurylenko in this because she had such a forgettable part in an equally forgettable movie. She even gets removed from the film in almost a less touching way than the faceless mercs that Eckhart takes out. Liana Liberato was good in this but her character was terribly written and cliche, the typical "I can't believe you lied to me" daughter.

Exciting and engaging story about a former CIA agent working in Europe. Only the company he is working for turns out to be a shame company to obtain security breaking devices. When the operation is shutdown all of the employees are targeted for death. Many tense moments. Good plot and excellent script. Aaron Eckhart, Liana Lierato and Olga Kurylenko are all magnificent in this thriller. Highly recommended.
