Better watch Pabst's Pandora's Box.

The print was fairly dark and muddled, but in a way that doesn't take away too much for it blends in well with the dark and shadowy world of German Expressionism that Leopold Jessner's film oozes of. That doesn't mean I wouldn't mind a pristine restoration of it. Perhaps the best thing about the film, besides it's gloomy aesthetics, is Asta Nielsen performance itself. So at home in tragedy, she is the destructive lady she's supposed to be. Only wish the narrative structure was more interesting.
