Surprisingly solid family drama. And certainly De Niro's finest performance since the 90s.

De Niro is really great. The casting of the kids was off though. It's like they just tried to get as many famous people as possible with no concern that none of these people have any sort of believability of actually being related. This wasn't anything special but it was enjoyable and a nice portrait of family life. Very sad at times.

De Niro carries this film throughout. It's honest and warming yet at times heartbreaking. Very enjoyable.

Rueful road movie, an American resetting of a Giuseppe Tornatore tearjerker. Kate Beckinsale, Sam Rockwell, and Drew Barrymore do not have much the look of siblings, but Robert DeNiro has the look of a lonely man, and the film is cleanly photographed and, till a late and little attempt at feel-good, keenly observed.

Drivel. Overbearing, meddling, inconsiderate, meandering, babbling father annoys his sneaky, dishonest, tortured upper middle-class kids for 90 minutes. Everybody's *not* fine until the last 5 minutes or so, at which point the filmmakers assure us they're fine...but we still dislike them. The fact that my sentimental nature teared up during the manipulative (and unearned) "cry now" moment felt like a self-betrayal. I need to watch some early De Niro to wash this from my brain. Good night.

While it has its fair share of problems, Everybody's Fine is still a good movie. It could have easily been better, but its issues are generally overcome by the strong performances and touching story. I can't say I enjoyed it, but a successful film will make you feel something. That's the case here, and whether it's joy or sorrow that you feel, you'll likely not be bored. Everything you feel will stem from the amazing performance turned in by Robert De Niro.

de niro'nun 2000'lerdeki ender "film"lerinden. yaşamın beklentilerle uyuşmamasında problemin beklentilerde olduğunu vurgulayabilen sıkı bir aile draması.

A bit too much of a tearjerker at times, but it mostly earns its emotional hits with an excellent performance from De Niro, who shows he can still be more than just a caricature of himself. The rest of the cast is pretty good too, even if not necessarily believable as his children.

I love Mr deNiro but his performance here is nowhere near to the majesty of Mastroianni's, to whom the comparison is inevitable since this is a remake. Especially his crying scene at the end was too fake. Beckinsale, Barrymore and Rockwell can't carry anything either. Same goes for the movie too with a different ending that makes this remake blander and unnecessarily Americanized.

This movie has two good things: De Niro and a good twist; sadly, it has two bad things as well: way too sexy daughters to promote is significant idea (imo!), and some really obvious tear-moments that kind of fail. The movie is saved by De Niro who really looks like a lonely granddad; his children, on the other hand, are nothing above average. Good music score as well, though.

I wasn't expecting much, because De Niro's been phoning it in for years, but he was actually the best part, with Rockwell a close second. It got a little weird in the middle with Frank imaging his young kids telling him what their adults selves were doing... but the message was nice and effective.

The Italian original must be amazing; I can't think of any other way to get these actors and this budget for such a schmaltzy hack job. Featuring De Niro as some 70 year old putz who's apparently been going to clown school in his retirement (Gosh! The suitcase has a handle?), regularly envisions his grown kids as 12 years old, has voiceover narration monologues addressing his dead wife, and puts all the pieces together in a dream. A simply childish take on themes of family and mortality.

Everybody's Fine delivers a De Niro lead road-trip film that feels slightly different. Rather than a young adults discovering life, the film is essentially an old man coming to terms with his shortcomings as he has short reunions with his children. The mixture of an interesting cast and mooted conversations makes the downbeat film quite watchable despite middling direction. The scene where De Niro figures out the subtext with the child-representations of his adult children was quite powerful.

It's one of those movies where it would be so sappy and unwatchable if the actors weren't top notch. Since we have De Niro and Rockwell who are great and Barrymore and Beckinsale who are quite good the film is pretty enjoyable, albeit depressing.

In that sense, Everybody's Fine serves as a sentimental--if at times profane--cautionary tale about the perils of perfectionism and the importance of unconditional love. (pluggedin.com)

De Niro brings jolts of depth and feeling to a treacly premise. An amazing flashback scene pits a recalcitrant De Niro against a group of needy child actors who cannot match his profundity.

Well-directed and beautifully shot with a good cast, Everybody's Fine falls into the pit of becoming a bit too sappy later on, which is disappointing as it manages to avoid predictable over-sentimentality for so long beforehand. Not the film it could've been then, but still portrays an honest approach to some difficult family issues (for the most part), and is definitely De Niro's best performance since the '90s.
