Everything, Everything

There might, ironically, be a good cautionary message here for anxiety-riddled helicopter parents. But as a parent myself, I couldn't help but feel aghast at the way Everything, Everything glorifies an admittedly adorable teen girl's increasingly reckless choices.

Everything, Everything tries to give you a little bit of just about everything, except for an ending that does really stay true to the overall tone of the movie. The "twist" involving her mother just felt like a nice way to wrap up a love story. Had they gone with the less severe form of the illness I feel like their love would have felt more engaging at the end. By the end their love had nothing to overcome and that was what you were lead to believe. That it could overcome all odds

Well first off, crucially, allow me to point out that Amandla Stenberg is a babe in this movie. Total smokeshow. Not difficult to believe the "love at first sight" from the guy's side of things whatsoever. Beyond that, the film is not unlikable, though so hard to buy into at many points (see the sequence where two apparently unemployed teenagers buy plane tickets for a fucking Hawaiian vacation complete with nice hotel and rental car - uh huh). Dumb albeit mildly charming twee fluff.

Entertainment: 4.5/4 -- kept our attention. Loved the twist at the end. Spirituality: 1/3. Sustainability: 1/3.

This movie was absolutely everything! So good. My favorite line: "'We're both really sleep deprived from talking instead of sleeping. But I'd rather talk to him than sleep."

Boooooring!

Cute, but nothing more than that. And seriously - what was the mom thinking?! *Okay
