Evil Laugh

This was an enjoyably bad slasher film.

I'm not sure if this is trying to be a true slasher movie or a parody of one, but it pretty much fails at being both. The acting is pretty bad all-around & the writing is spectacularly corny for a lot of the time. The tone is all over the place. The look of the killer is...dumb, honestly. Then there's the ending, which is just...bleh. Still, I did actually laugh at a few of the jokes & there's a campy fun vibe to some scenes. It's really not worth watching, but it could've been in better hands.

This was more comedic than I excepted, but it still doesn't get as goofy as e.g. Wacko or Student Bodies, and maintains a level of suspense which makes it work either way. It also helps that the comedy is quite bonkers like the hiding under the bed gag. There's a character who basically predates Randy in Scream films, reading Fangoria and aware of the rules of the genre. It's still a bit too rough around the edges to become a proper gem, but still definitely worth a watch for slasher fanatics.
