Evil

Not nearly as good as the book. The cruelty seems less cruel and not as compelling. Furthermore, the topic of "being evil" is only adressed in a superficial way whereas the book treats it with more nuance. Anyway, on its own terms it is still quite entertaining while watching but it does seem rather forgettable.

The best foreign film I've seen in a long time. The story almost becomes ludicrous, non-relatable, yet the movie is able to stay on track due to the impeccable performances; Andreas Wilson is a man on fire. Great writing abounds. I must watch more Swedish films.

Very good. The film faithfully replicates all the key elements of the harsh boarding school / singled-out new guy genre, but with an added edge: the self-sacrificing stubbornness and tenacity of the martyric main character, and the dynamic between him and the evil school president. It's a fun film to watch, with plenty of seething teen testosterone, athletic feats, period culture and even sex. Maybe not 100% believable, but damn enjoyable thanks to some fine performances and solid direction.

Fakat bu tip konuları(bullying-okul içi şiddet)işleyen filmlerle (Elephant,Klass) karşılaştırma yapmak durumunda kalıyorsun elbette. Hikaye güzel fakat işlenişi digerlerine göre çok sıradandı. Dönüp bakarsak klişelerden ibaretti film tam olarak. Yani kesinlikle izleyin diyemem ama dram sevenler izlemeli. Bu yüzden puanım 7.6/10

Watched without subtitles so I can't honestly say I understood everything. It was nonetheless enjoyable.

Not even close as being as good as the book... But then again what adapted movie is? Still a good film though!

Well, crap, I had to ponder for a while. Brings to mind words of Pastor Niemoller or Edmund Burke (go google for them). Characters, but for Erik (gritty pretty-boy bad-boy image & looks), are on the one dimensional side. Doesn't cover new ground. (boarding school, coming-of-age, violence, underdogs) But sets itself apart from the pack w/ Erik's balancing act between opposing ideas & good, suspenseful, plot development. Like & enjoyed.

The story is very much by the books - though it plays out like a drama, the story is almost identical to any of the renunciations of violence found in action/martial arts films. I was entertained, I guess, and the acting is competent.

Powerful. Incredibly well acted.
