We meet the young Maria as she crosses paths with TV producer Pablo. A second meeting leads to meeting the director Chimo, who spies her talent and turns her into a TV dancer. At the same time, censors are determined to keep their conservative values alive. Maria and Pablo are caught between those two forces, with freedom, romance and their dreams on the line. My Heart Goes Boom! more than lives up to its exclamation mark, keeping things light and effervescent without getting bogged down.
