Exactly the sort of strange, pretentious movie that could turn an impressionable youngster off to anything non-American or remotely artsy for life. Toback fills this movie with his trademark weird, silly "look Mom I'm directing" camera moves, and plays a small role in the film to boot as a teacher. Scrawled on the blackboard behind him in one scene is "Touch of Evil", which Orson Welles must have taken as an insult

Toback pulls out all the self conscious artsy camera moves to no avail because his script is pretentious and dumb, and when the terrorist plot kicks in, it goes completely down the drain. The acting is bad across the board, and this viewer felt sorry for Keitel, as it was made during his 'wilderness' period long before Reservoir Dogs and Bad Lieutenant revived his career. Score is probably generous.
