Decent anthology of famous Poe stories, using a different animation style for each one. Unique to say the least.

Can't say all of the animation is of great quality, but i can say that each segment captured the morbid suspense they intended to. From the gothic creepiness of Usher to the anxious madness of the Pit i was hooked. The narrations were good, especially liked lee(of course) and the archive of lugosi for tell tale heart was just perfect.

Some animation here is abysmal, mostly the character designs. The backgrounds look gorgeous all around. The first and last segments are the best.

A brilliant set of short films. The intermission story is the weakest point of the film, but it does interfere with the overall experience.

I didn't like it, but that is because I actually like Edgar Allan Poe. I don't think that director understands him. Storytelling is really bad, I mean making Poe's stories that much simple... They really hate Poe. Except the last one which is really great in terms of graphic style (The Masque of the Red Death), animation style wasn't also that nice, it seems more like a video game. The last one has also some problems with animation. In general, it is not working and needs better storytelling.

A very unique anthology film with every story having a different art style and narration. The last story did feel weaker compared to the rest though.

Poe as a raven conversing with Death as a framing device would have been truly incredible had they cast someone with a more fitting voice for Poe. The art style that varies between the tales themselves is admirable but I would have liked more diversity, like one looks nothing like the other. Red Death could have been done with zero dialogue and I expected more expression at the end of Telltale Heart. Overall though this is a beautiful take on Poe's writing.
