When they were kids Texas Ranger Jack Benteen used to be best friends with drug kingpin Cash Bailey. At present, however, the only element linking them together is Jack's girlfriend Sarita, who used to be with Cash. She returns to Cash as a voluntary hostage to make certain that Jack keeps his hands off the drug lord's operation. On top of that, there is a meticulously planned drug bust... (imdb)

The most testosterone heavy movie I have ever seen....& I've pretty much seen them all. Even token female presence Maria Conchita Alonso is hardcore tough in this (but still does a great job of being sexy at the same time). What Peckinpah's "The Wild Bunch" is often credited for achieving, this film legitimately achieves- over the top macho violence, but without the homo erotic overtones. Arguably the most "hard core" film ever made- highly recommended.

Wow, where's this movie been all my life? 80's balls to the wall action crossed with a rugged western, great! Powers Boothe is great!

An under-rated neo-Western made by the great action director, Walter Hill. Nick Nolte stars as a Texas Ranger who must hunt down a drug-dealing former friend (Powers Booth, gregarious but evil). The talk is tough, the pace is unflagging, and the final shoot-out is as violent as the climax of The Wild Bunch, which this film in some ways resembles.

Very well-made, exciting crime thriller with a good tribute to _The Wild Bunch_ at the end. You want action? Oh, there's enough action in here for you, I promise you that. Plus you have to love a movie in which a couple of the nerds from the "Revenge of the Nerds" series are cast as elite soldiers

Though its excesses (in characterization, music, and especially violence) are apparently deliberate, that doesn't make them any more entertaining, though it helps if you accept it as tongue-in-cheek.

Such potential here. Awesome director with an obvious stubbo for Peckinpah (who hasn't?), a fucking masculine cast with manly names. POWERS BOOTHE! Michael IRONSIDE! But it's just a ho-hummity dum time, a shame.

Man, I was so on board for this in the beginning, but it gets less and less interesting and fun as it goes on, until the final depressing and confusingly edited shootout. Nolte's character is unbelievably boring, from start to finish, and the funny, entertaining special ops team have their enthusiasm slowly bled out of them (and the entertaining purple Southern dialogue becomes more grim) until the movie just feels generic and boring, which is a real shame considering how fun it is at the start.

What could've been gritty, brawny fun turns out to be cheesy as hell and overloaded with trite, flat dialogue delivered stiffly by a cast whose energy is never worked up enough to make it convincing, nor is Walter Hill's direction industrious or forceful enough to disguise the lagging contrivances in the plot.

"the only thing worse than a politician is a child molester"dan "I said 'morning' I didn't say 'good morning'"e kadar *cheesy*liğine kurban. baştan sona dengeli temposu, wild bunch bitirişi, akılda kalıcı replikleriyle eğlenceli bir seyirlik.

Great cast is wasted on a humdrum script and Hill's blatant Peckinpah imitation. Could have been memorable, but it seriously misses the mark, and the macho dialogue is cringeworthy at times. It's worth a look for a few decent action scenes and if you are a diehard fan of Hill who has missed this now forgotten film.

good solid peckinpah worship with a fun extended cast but on first viewing i don't understand the rabid hype it gets in some circles. nolte's very good but boothe basically gives the same performance i find distractingly bad in DEADWOOD (a show that contains at least 4 of my all-time favourite performances--mcshane, dourif, malcomson and of course weigert) which didn't help, although obviously i dug him crushing a scorpion in his bare hand, i'm not a total party pooper.

Solid 80s action, produced by Kassar and Vajna, who also gave us Rambo and Total Recall; this one is not in the same class, but still very entertaining. All quite predictable, but hey, we are not watching movies like this because of the story: we want to see lots of bullets flying, and on that account we are completely satisfied!
