Jean-Jacques meets a young woman named Elizabeth in a bar, and makes the mistake of telling his girlfriend, Ariane, about her. Ariane is convinced he wants to sleep with Elizabeth, and gives him her blessing. Reluctantly, but to please Ariane, the young man accepts an invitation from Elizabeth to visit her home, where he discovers in amazement that she is the daughter of the president... (showtimes.com)

Please, Please Me! is an odd film. In part a farcical comedy of errors full of slapstick, & partly a riff on 70's era Danish erotic cinema. The cinematography seems to favour claustrophobic medium shots & saturated colours; combined with the soundtrack equivalent of a laugh-track, stylistically the film feels quite old-fashioned. Admittedly I laughed at a few gags (elevator, vase) but it all quickly becomes cringeworthy. The plot verges on nonsensical, but strangely the film is still watchable.
