Family Romance, LLC

A beautifully tragic film. The way this is filmed and the blocking of the actors reminded me of Malick's 'Weightless Trilogy'. The documentary style is so intimate, and when you mix it with beautiful drone shots, you get a wonderful visual experience. The soundtrack is amazing also, so often my eyes would well up without realising as a result of the beautifully melancholic music. There is something so tragic about Family Romance (The company), the nature of it, and its clientele.

This was a great focus on the relationship between two main characters, punctuated by vignettes of what other gigs the 'actor' is hired for. So interesting that this is what he really does for a living, which is what might make his performance so powerful. At times quite slow moving without necessarily building tension or interest, and the aquarium scene seems like a break from the general style and theme. Great exploration on the ethics and risks of feigning love.
