Fantail

Henderson delivers a gripping performance in a film that leans heavily into depressing drama moreso than comedy. The fairy tale setup seems innocuous at first but almost prophetic by the end, and is both a clever and competent framing device. At 80 minutes the film is slow in pace, but rarely dull with a lot plot events made evident but left unspoken. The film is a little too bleak to be truly enjoyable for me, but is well worth the watch for its themes on identity and perceived responsibility.

A very funny but also dramatically dark look at sibling love, yearning for paternal connections and searching for cultural identity.
