Actually slightly better than Crimes of Grindelwald, as it focuses up more, has a “men on a mission” type finale almost like a spy movie, and (strange & unfortunate circumstances of the recasting aside) Mads fits better into the Potterverse than Depp ever did. Buuut all that said, it still has a lot of odd and awkward scenes, poor pacing, a ton of tangents into lore and characters I barely care about, and Eddie Redmayne is now fully a side character in what was supposed to be his own series.

This one is just as dark as The Batman. I guess Dumbledore must also be nocturnal. (pointless reviews #87) In seriousness, though, the underlying message is either toxic or defeatist. (Spoiler ahead) Believe what the magic deer tells you. Don't judge leaders using petty things such as morals, the deer decides this for you. "We're going to war!" Crowd celebrates! 2 minutes later: "Nevermind, that was a fake deer! No war!" Crowd celebrates!

Not enough beasts, the ones that were there weren't that fantastic, and Dumbledore doesn't have any secrets if you've read Deathly Hallows. Seriously though, how many more films can this poorly planned franchise support? They just don't understand how to be self-contained or artistically significant while most of the Harry Potter films, even the ones directed by David Yates, knew how to do the former. Mads is better than Depp, but not enough for him to impact the movie significantly.

Remarkably disappointing and messy. The characters I've grown to love dearly are in it, but the Grindelwald plot, the 'confusion' meant to throw Grindelwald off has no rhyme, even for what we're shown. Half a dozen cases made? We'll just use five. References to three card monte but there's no true 'how could I know' distraction element. The contrivance is very real and hard to get around. Even then, it doesn't follow what's laid out. ... What happened? Where is this series even going?

the election of triwizard tournament is more protected than the election of the international confederation of wizards.

I liked the first Fantastic Beasts film. The second was a mess. This one was a little bit better, but the characters lacks the charm that originally made the Harry Potter world so much fun. It's mostly dull caricatures at this point with a splash of magic once in a while.

It looks good, and it's not as bad as the second installment in terms of plot messiness. But if you're going to push a political message, don't present what looks like an arbitrary choice from a magical creature followed by popular acclamation as a happy resolution.

Magically dull and gay. It's insufferable.

Well, it did round up all the story lines but did it do it well? Eeeh.. Too many characters, too many plots, forced beasts just because it’s in the name.. Doesn’t have the magic of the HP series, they just keep teleporting to places and waving wands..

Like the second entry it is weak and pointless. And I bare remember anything about it.

You know the franchise has hit rock-bottom when this film almost breaks the fourth wall to tell you "I know nothing makes sense and it sucks, but it's stylistically designed to be this way". Nevertheless, it's somehow less of a mess than the previous entry.

I didn't really follow the plot and didn't really care. The only thing I can say positive about it is the CGI was really good, all the creatures looked 100% realistic and interacting with people. But just dull and uninvolving with no forward momentum or hook for the audience to care. About any of it.

Utterly nonsensical, almost completely devoid of fun and charm. It feels like most of those involved seem to be perfectly aware and accepting of this film being nothing else than a big production cash grab. Lifeless entertainment with terrible story & writing. The idea of 5 films like this is just insulting, please make it stop!

The Secrets of Dumbledore was marred by controversy & Covid production woes, resulting in a mixed bag of a film. Mikkelsen plays Grindelwald better than Depp. Fogler's facial expressions once again lead the franchise. While there are plenty of locations, they all feel like closed sets. However the film's real problem is its magic system, which requires epic battles and no noticeable consequences to muggles. Nevertheless, I'm still invested in the story, even if this chapter isn't very well told.

There is a key plot point here where none of the main characters are supposed to know what is going on so that the antagonist cannot discover their plan. Unfortunately this perfectly reflects the experience of the viewer who will have no clue as to what the point of this movie was. The Fantastic Beasts franchise has been getting notably worse with each release and sadly after this it may be best if they are put to sleep for everyone's sake.

It's asinine how these films can get so boring at times. Big budget movies about people and monsters throwing magic at each other; it should take effort to ruin the experience but the overly convoluted plots and mediocre direction manage it. They ought to stop overwriting them and giving them to Yates.

I don't know if it's just that I hate most of the bad casting (Jude Law and Mads Mikkelsen, esp), I just couldn't get myself to care about any of the characters. Or, maybe it was that the movie played like bad war propaganda for most of the movie. Either way, it was mostly boring. There was little charm. It didn't get even remotely interesting until almost the end. The only good part of it was the removal of Depp from the cast.

Professor Hicks is now my favourite Fantastic Beasts character! Smart, fast, always one step ahead and creative.

Incredibly fantastic only in its ability to be the most uninteresting film in this franchise. Lets stop making these.

A jumbled mess. If you took out all the parts that did not make sense, it would be too short to qualify as a short film.
