A spoof of the late 80s and early 90s suspense thrillers and murder mysteries, including Basic Instinct, Sleeping With The Enemy, Cape Fear and others. A cop/attorney (yes he's both) is seduced by a woman while his wife is having an affair with a mechanic. Lots of other sublots and visual gags in the style of Naked Gun. Check the rating ! (imdb)

A very funny spoof--it's just confusing that the Zuckers didn't have a hand in this. It's very well directed. I also love the cast. It isn't perfect, but there were so many sexy suspense thrillers in the 80's and 90's--good to see them get mocked.

Fatal Instinct has some flat out stellar comedy moments. Armand Assante plays each moment with complete film-noir sincerity, in fact if this wasn't a slapstick comedy he'd be able to pull off a decent noir lead, plus Sean Young is super hot as the femme fatale. The downside is that the film is just too long and drags in places. Really it should have been cut down by about 15 minutes as jokes end up being recycled too much. Still it has some of the funniest slap stick I've ever seen.

There's ONE laugh buried in this 70+ year old man's senile hellscape. It's that good.

58 points for the "Brown-eyed Girl" montage.

More of a parody of film noir than erotic thrillers per se, which is part of the problem: by 93 this was well worn territory, and even Reiner had made a superior parody of this genre 10 years earlier. Assante acquits himself more than adequately in a surprising goofball turn as a moronic detective, and he performs with real gusto, but the material is beneath him. The jokes are weak and rarely land with sufficient force, and it's easy to see why Reiner faded shortly after its release.

Uneven yet I still laughed at some of the jokes and I liked the cast.

Ughhh.... Naked Gun and Hot Shots type movies only work when they're funny and draw on broad cultural touchstones (Police, War Movies). There aren't enough "steamy romantic thriller" cliches to make this work.

Consistently funny and gloriously stupid, the jokes come thick & fast and are all delivered by some great deadpan performances. There's a few too many lame/predictable gags to achieve true greatness, but the gems amongst them are plentiful and worthy of the best 'stupid-funnies' out there. Fatal Instinct is everything the modern silly spoofs (Scary Movie and its ilk) want to be but aren't.

A failed attempt to imitate Naked Gun/Airplane! formula which falls flat with too many juvenile and unfunny jokes. Also, to get the most out of it, you should watch a couple of late 80's and early 90's thrillers in advance. The biggest merits are probably seeing Sherilyn Fenn and Sean Young close to their prime.
