Not exactly terrible, but the humor should work much better with these two great comedians.

Williams and Crystal can be funny, but locked into these roles, it limits them. Wasn't that good.

A comedy starring Williams & Crystal should just be funnier. The duo have a few amusing moments, but neither them nor director Reitman can lift the tepid screenplay beyond mediocrity. The film just feels a bit sleazy, from the lighting to locations to every other character. At least I now have context for their appearance in Friends. Gibson's appearance was the piercing guy was bizarre. Disappointing, but also not very good.

A pretty miserable piece of celluloid junk. I typically enjoy both Williams and Crystal, but here they were just too much. It was on TV once... then it was shown while I was on a plane. Taking a nap was a much better option both times.

Perhaps if you'd headed to the cinema on its release in '97, full of hope these two would headline a laugh-riot, you'd have been a bit peeved. But watching for the first time 18 years later you get what you expect here. The two principals certainly lift the film above its mediocre writing - pulling off a few genuine chuckles along the way - although the plot is throwaway stuff with a shoddy ending, which misses a trick by revealing too much too soon. Just an average road-movie comedy of the era.

Crystal and Williams hamming it up together (though Williams is the more grievous offender), headbutting guys while The Mighty Mighty Bosstones play their hit single. Was this really necessary?
