Pretty good, but not up to the level of the original.

Better than the remake, indeed better than both 'Father of the Bride' and 'Father of the Bride Part II', due almost entirely to the absence of Martin Short and the presence of Tracy and Taylor in place of Steve Martin and Kimberley Williams-Paisley. Surely a contender for weirdest film title or at least most literal title for a film?

Of all the movies Vincente Minnelli directed, this has to be the one that's the least his - it's shot entirely in medium, without an ounce of style or panache, just dull domestic scene after dull domestic scene. It's drawn-out, sitcom-style pablum - never actively bad, but always boring.

A sequel that should not have been made. Tracy and Taylor were awesome together in "Father of The Bride", but they didn't seem to click here. I'll blame the failure on a half-assed script.

Worthy sequel to a light and fun movie, "Father of the Bride".

Maybe not a truly great film, but sometimes you just want to watch something that's nice and good and kind and wholesome. Most of the movie is pretty bland, but the scenes with Tracy and Taylor are magnificent, and the last ~15 minutes are amazing stuff. The ending too is a perfect Minnelli grace note.

a couple of amusing moments, but this is mostly boring studio nonsense about how wonderful it is to have a child. terrible narration too. MUBI, you have failed me!

I enjoy Father of the Bride. This isn't nearly as good, but it's more of the same tone and characters from the original. Tracy again totally nails the rough exterior soft interior father character that was perfect for him. Just a nice, light, harmless movie.

The sequel to Father of the Bride (1950) continues life's clichés. It's in its transparent style the charm lays. You simply recognize every situation Spencer Tracy finds himself in. Not super funny, but relatable funny.
