The biggest plus of this is that Judy Geeson is very believable as a young woman who's unsure whether she's having another nervous breakdown or not. Of course it is also always a pleasure to see Peter Cushing show up. The plot is, especially nowadays, too predictable.

Feels like a TV episode: it's all been done a million times before with better results. It's not BAD -- just not that special either. Cushing is ok but not properly utilized.

Above average cinematography and editing for a Hammer film. The first half is surprisingly subtle and restrained, which was good, and it plays more like a thriller or a crime film than a straight-up horror. Judy Geeson is really well suited to playing the vulnerable woman on the verge of a(nother) nervous breakdown. It gets a bit obvious towards the conclusion, and Joan Collins really stinks as actress, but apart from that it's a solid entry in the Hammer canon.

The match-cut, semi-hallucinatory segueing style worked well. Geeson bears more than a passing resemblance to Reese Witherspoon. Also liked the score. However, all the film's stylish attributes aside, the payoff(s) were a bit obvious.
