Feeding Frenzy

An outright masterpiece compared to space cop. You can tell a lot of heart went into it, some shots and ideas are pretty apt and it's fun seeing these guys all young(er) and nerdy(er). Seems talking about all these crap movies for years sadly left them less enthusiastic about their own filmmaking, too.

This horror comedy from the Red Letter Media crew is ... okay. There's more good stuff than bad stuff here, but there's enough bad stuff to drag it down a few notches. Lead actors Ron Lipski and Gillian Bellinger are not very good, but close enough to good to not drag the film down. A lot of the supporting actors ... well ... they drag the film down. Rich Evans has a really sizable role as the film's villain Mr. Plinkett, and he's really quite good.

Low budget style carried by it's capable script & conscious acting. Almost had the perfect anti-finale which would have been a brilliant slowly raised middle finger to the standard Hollywood format. Hanging out for Space Cop.

At least 60% of my interest in this film was "support local artists, man, FUCK Hollywood's interpretation of the Midwest". But, you know, I really thought this was a pretty good exercise in genre parody (of a genre that no longer exists, to boot). Yeah, I mean, it's Troma-level stuff, but it is cinematically literate Troma-level stuff and benefits from competent editing -- and competence in general. Yikes on Evans' expository dialogue though; I'm glad those involved also see it as a flaw.

Very enjoyable RLM schlock. Jay is great in this.
