A rousing record of a little-known, but monumental, moment in rock n roll history. Set in 1970, Festival Express was a multi-band, multi-day extravaganza that captured the spirit and imagination of a generation and a nation. (ThinkFilm)

Seen this several times, despite my interest in this music being way more anthropological now than heartfelt when I was a kid. Rick Danko is so sketched out in acid-drenchedLand when he's singing in the train next to Janis - I thought I was gonna get some weird kinda contact high just watching him. Hilarious promoter - threatening everyone to get a show/more booze. Seeing The Band play was fucking great - funny how conspicuously absent they were on the train. Ah - the Canadian Prairies....

Some decent performances, not that much else. Janis Joplin and Buddy Guy are definitely worth seeing. Bluesy psychedelic rock is ok, but I guess you had to be there.

Good little slice of Canadian rock 'n roll history. Who knew a girl from Chatham Ontario wrote a #3 hit on the Billboard charts?
