A pretty amusing tongue in cheek comedy about a boy and his pet zombie.

Absolutely hilarious. I never thought I'd see a really original zombie film but here it is! It's like Leave it to Beaver and Lassie combined with zombies. It's ideal American lifestyle (50's ahoy!) setting and acting makes for some campy but hilarious cinema. It takes a little bit of time to get used to but once you do it's fantastic.

A cute concept but beyond the first 20 minutes the laughs dry up because you see the same sight gags over and over. Billy Connolly and Carrie-Anne Moss are both pretty good, with their performances rising above the cornball tone of the film. Sadly, the finale is let down by the low budget and the zombie outbreak is pretty tame.

Remotely original, makes Lassie in zombieland out of the concept and ends up minor fun.

Memorable and visually remarkable, and certainly a fun and effortless watch, but the idea of this movie is leaps and bounds better than the execution.

Good. In an alternate reality 50's era world just recovering from a long zombie war, a young boy gets very attached to his new domesticated zombie pet. This movie puts a fresh, very watchable twist on the zombie genre. I believe there's social commentary in it somewhere but the film never gets preachy or too serious. Fun flick. Recommended.

a unique and original twist on a zombie movie. somehow this zombie movie is nostalgic and heartwarming at the same time, that's a first for a zombie flick.

An enjoyable concept. The movie started on a pretty good note, but failed to gain any ground after twenty minutes or so which caused to movie to fail on some fundamental level. Certain segments of this movie are worth watching, and fans of zombie films shouldn't pass this one up.

Maybe not laugh-out-loud funny, but consistently amusing with no dead spots where you wait for the plot to go through its paces. There's more going on here (thankfully) than just a fish-in-the-barrel satire of the 50s. In fact, it probably would've worked better set in the present day, as its main concern is with a culture that cheapens life. Also, Billy Connelly is pretty great in the title role.

The idea behind it is fun and original, but the film just isn't very good. Visually it was always nice to watch. Still, I felt like it was lacking a proper story. It's sad how the film settled for being silly, instead of trying to accomplish anything more.

It has a very inspired concept, but once the set-up is over, the movie starts to lose its steam. There are some great comedic bits, and it's a somewhat new take on zombies ("somewhat", because Shaun of the Dead had similar ideas in the end -- though this once is set in campy post-war idyllic 50s America). Connolly shines in the titular dialog-free role, and Moss and Baker have the 50s vibe down pat. It is fun, but I just couldn't get into this movie as much as I wanted to. Still, worth a look.

It eventually gets trapped in its own silly jokes, but Fido dares to frame the zombies as some kind of modern slaves, that make people's lives easier and give them a social status. The walkers have never been so poorly -- and, in some ways, so gently -- treated. Finally, they are able to feel they are alive, with family, kids and an ordinary routine. Wearing a collar, now they can be the type of zombie that society accepts: fitter, happier and more productive.

It's a really silly movie, and that's why it appealed to me. It used so many generic conventions (and anti-conventions) that just made it a goofy film to sit back and relax to. I just had fun watching it, even if it got extremely slow in a lot of parts (in other words, it went way too long for a one joke premise).

A cute little idea of a movie and a must-see for zombie fans. It could have done more with the subject matter and put additional humor in; the table was set but it didn't always eat from it. If you don't already know who plays Fido, try to guess. I doubt you'll be able to.

Never really ventures beyond its admittedly great one-trick premise. However it remains consistently enjoyable thanks to a decidedly tongue-in-cheek feel and excellent turns from the cast, especially Carrie-Anne Moss. Billy Connolly also does a great job in bringing a non-speaking role to (un)life. It's rarely laugh-out-loud funny and sometimes the zombies-being-stupid slapstick wears thin. Others have said there's a hidden layer of satire about modern consumerism in here but I didn't see it.

A film that relies too much on a "novel" gimmick. Yeah, the premise of zombie pets in the 1950s to parody traditional films like Lassie is a pretty good idea. But that's all the movie has going for it.

Interesting idea, but the script mostly just riffs on the contrast of casual violence in the idealised image of '50s suburbia. It's amusing at times, and Baker is fun, but it's very slight, and by the end I was kinda wondering what I'd been doing for the previous 90 minutes. The character arcs are...well, you can't really call them arcs. They're more like mathematical limits; it feels like they start moving toward some goal, and then they drift off in another direction, and then the movie ends.

New dimension towards after-zombie-apocalypse theme. Domesticated zombies are more awesome than domesticated vampires, and by that I mean you, sparky. The atmosphere of pseudotranquil suburbs is always welcome.

It's not just that it's not very funny, but it's a satire that can't really decide on a target. On the one hand, a lot of time and energy is spent on establishing that Connolly is a better father than household head Dylan Baker, and a romance even brews between Connolly and Carrie-Anne Moss, but none of that is as sharp as it could be since we spend a ton of energy trying to establish a rivalry with neighbor Hank Czerny.
