Fiesta

A nice movie about family. I appreciated that Williams' takeover of a male role wasn't the focal controversy as much as her brother wanting to be a musician. The obvious stunt double bullfighter with spliced in shots of Williams got tiring after awhile. Still, bullfighting is a scary sport. Fav scene: when they're little kids and both were training for bullfighting.

I thought Fiesta (1947) was going to be more about Esther Williams, instead it becomes a sneak introduction of Mexican born actor Ricardo Montalban to Hollywood. What a multi-talent he was! He definitely wins you over here. Sadly the rest of the story doesn't do all that much elevate the experience, keeping things too safe for the viewing audience to really generate much emotion to this musician/matador tale. Feels like it's one more for the colors and exotic settings than then substance.
