Among the films Douglas Sirk made in Nazi Germany before he fled the country. Sort of grim tale of a mother leaving her son behind, only to become the boy's nanny years later in a troubled household. There are scenes that are exceptionally done, but there is also a lot of time which doesn't get the story going and it gets drowsy. That's definitely not Lil Dagover fault for she showed the class of actress she was!
