When the window fell on that annoying kid, I was all like, "YEAH!" but then I was like all "hell no!" because I learned about physics from sesame street, which allowed me to figure that it takes a little more to turn a kid into applesauce. I think the gore would have been cooler had they stuck with the actual science. But squib packs are cheap i guess.

Reminds me of F13: The Final Chapter as they understand the appeal of the series and play to its strengths. Absurdly fun for something with so little substance. Actually, most things this fun seem to be of little substance. Nothing wrong with fun. I'm a fun guy. Pieces falling into place.

It turns out that a film can be good solely on the strength of a fun concept mixed with interesting kills. The opening highway scene is something that has stuck with me for 20 years.

This is the part where you stop caring about the whole death has a plan thing and just continue watching to see what ways to die the writers could come up with.

While more exuberant and spectacular than the first with long twisting chase/crash scenes, the idea feels less fresh as very little has been changed from the original. The deaths are even more dramatic, usually involving either decapitation or impalement, but the periods inbetween feel more like padding than anything simply designed to lead characters from one gory splatter scene to another. It's still an enjoyable, brainless watch but it's full of goofs and doesn't quite match up to the first.

For what it lacks on the original (wit in the script, star power in the cast), this sequel makes up for with the most wildly creative death sequences that this franchise has to offer. The opening number, the highway crash sequence, is a real spectacle. Of course the movie is pretty much trash outside of the action sequences, but they're good enough for the movie to be mildly recommendable so long as you know what you're getting yourself into. It's fun, if nothing else.

Feels original, which is unusual for a horror movie. Jumps through a lot of hoops for a goofy ending but a complete blast all the way through.

Abject filmmaking and an insulting follow-up to a popular original. The first film was a decent weirdo latecomer to the teen horror cycle, then they spent three years making this pile of garbage, and threw it in the faces of unexpectant fans who were just happy to see a sequel. One of only a handful of films that I've walked out on and successfully claimed my money back because someone in the box office had seen it and felt bad enough about it.

Eh, maybe the concept of death itself as a vengeful spurned antagonist wasn't that clever after all? The script is at least good enough to pay off some of the Rube Goldbergian deaths but everything else is just plain boring. Final Destination 2 does prove that slashers do kinda need the huge dude in a mask because without it the tension is either non-existent or just plain confused and that seeing annoying characters get killed in interesting ways can only take your movie so far.

Another solid entry in the series, Final Destination 2 is a sequel that uses the first entry to bolster itself and enhance the franchise. A new group of death-defiers find themselves in the same predicament as those in the first film, and we see ideas from the first film evolve as the new characters try to find a way out. It covers mostly the same ground with some new twists and some solid gore. If you're not a fan of the first, stay away from this.

The logjam pileup at the start is a legitimate 5-star sequence, brilliantly directed and edited. The kill sequences in general are excellent, but everything surrounding them is far weaker. Hampered by the same awful dialogue, hair, fashion, and douchebag main characters that plagued so much of 2000s horror. It really seems like there needs to be some kind of justification/explanation for why the premonitions are happening and for how/why Tony Todd knows everything about the rules of death.

Continuing with a series that did something new and fresh is never easy. Final destination 2, however, does the job acceptably. Emphasising on the splatstick humor and mechanics behind the fate rollback, Final Destination 2 is maybe not revolutionary or as inovative as #1, but it makes an entertaining story nonetheless.

Expands on the stupid original premise by upping the stakes, introducing convoluted backstory that expands on the original's mythos and generally expanding the premise to levels of stupid that could only exist in movieland. As a sequel to a B-movie horror it pretty much works, taking a tongue-in-cheek approach to the original.

Nobody seems to know how to apply breaks in this movie. Deaths are pretty direct and the characters are mediocre. Apparently Alex (from the first movie) died from a ceiling fan. This sequel is harder to watch because it becomes a chase to stop death without the other elements of the first movie. The deaths are also far too flippant and it becomes almost like a comedy.

I like that this romp takes some time to spend with the characters (even if it isn't much). The idea of trying to cheat death still seems pointless and contrived, but that's the point I guess. It makes for some entertaining movie about people dying in rational and irrational ways.

It's good to watch if all you care about is mindless violence, because the story doesn't make the slightest bit of sense. They try to rationalize it all kinds of ways throughout the movie, but then they're just proven wrong time and time again. I think the writers just gave up at some point when they realized the death scenes are all people want.
