Want to watch what was wrong with the Matrix sequels but not invest four hours?

It looks nice but I wouldn't be able to honestly say I thought it was essential viewing or offered anything important to a viewer's knowledge of The Matrix universe.

Did the Animatrix really need to be broken up into all ten(?) segments?

Neat animation, but that's about it.

A couple of the shorts in the Animatrix would have made better sequels.

There's not much here beyond the cool-for-its-time animation.

A pretty useless short that doesn't widen this sci-fi universe at all, it just seems to simply exist for the purpose of just showing off its amazingly realistic animation (which became outdated in 2006). It's around about the length it should be, so it's worth a reasonably enjoyable watch.

Funny that this short from Animatrix is better than the last two Matrix movies.

The opening sequence looks like a masturbation fantasy for all the adolescents (chronological, and otherwise, if you know what I mean) who are raving Matrix fans. I thought that if you die in The Matrix, you die IRL, too... so it makes no sense to fuck around with swords like that. Whatever. At any rate, I am tired of the Matrix mythos even though I've left it alone since I saw the last movie when it was new 7 years ago. I wanted something more interesting than more chases and more gunfights

It truly is amazing what computer effects can achieve these days. However, they haven't managed to produce anything deeper than a puddle.

Easily the worst part of The Animatrix. There is nothing to this short (except some beautifully-rendered almost-naked CGI bodies).

beautiful animation, the beginning sequence is remarkably acurate in both movement AND detail, but after that the plot takes off too fast and too little time is taken for the rest of the short. Nice special effects, voice-casting and animation though

A pretty decent Matrix short. Better than the last two movies, which were shit. The Matrix might have been worth seeing if it were an anime like this.

I remember going to see Dreamcatcher (ughh) in theaters because this was playing before the movie. It's not especially deep or innovative and the animation has aged quickly (as all attempted photorealistic animation does), but it has some cool action and feels more like The Matrix and its sequels than any of the other Animatrix shorts, for better or worse. It also has a lingerie-clad samurai sword chick, for those of you who get off on that kind of thing.

An action-packed story is one of the best shorts to meld action and story. Sadly, you know how this story is going to go the moment the short starts.

Some fanservice and action scene. Was it supposed to be "cool"?

Interesting excuse for some mild and lame CGI T&A. Lots of unnecessary acrobatics too.
