America 101. I'm pretty sure the filmmakers wanted the audience to be torn between siding with the amputee and the ampu-keeper. Problem is, the latter is an utter twat who is so unlikable that the documentary's attempts at making him seem normal fall as short as a blind baby playing horseshoes. Still, it makes for some fine cinematic bar-b-cue.

middle class man loses his leg in a plane crash which killed his father and for which he feels responsible. working class man with an inferiority complex finds and tries to use leg to become more like he who lost it ('a somebody'). instead he screws up his own life while inadvertently helping the amputee beat drug addiction/reconnect with family. shit writes itself, and, like the mummified limb, FK contains subtextual meaning (on class, media, biology etc) beneath its eye-catching surface.

Yet another documentary that simply cannot justify being feature length, it's not quite 84 minutes and it overstays its welcome. It's an interesting story for a few reasons but it would've been twice as good at half the length and it would lose nothing interesting in that cut

The only thing I want to write here is this: THIS KIND OF SHIT ONLY HAPPENS IN THE USA.

Every Judge Mathis case should have a documentary made about it.

Finders Keepers is as touching as it is funny. Going beyond a bizarre cast of characters handling a unique legal case, this documentary delves into a tale of fate and battling the dark sections of the human psyche. I walked away with plenty of laughs, a little inspiration, and a deeper understanding of life.

The core is interesting but they are seriously stretching for feature length. Attempts sympathetic character portraits to mixed results given how delusional the players are.
