How much all of this you find inspiring greatly depends on how much you're willing to give in the the magic of the moment, so cynics and scrooges will probably be a bit off-put by the often syrupy dialogue and attempts to pull heartstrings. Finding Neverland isn't for everyone, but is recommended for all fans of Barrie's "Peter Pan", inspirational dramas, Johnny Depp, and movies driven by imagination and a touch of sentimentality.

It's predictable, it doesn't take enough risks, it's too restrained, too straight-forward. But it has some emotionally resonating moments, particularly near the end when they put on the play for Kate Winslet's character.

Beautiful, beautiful movie! If you haven't seen it, I hope you will soon! It's filming is gorgeous, it's story enchanting, and the acting is brilliant. The beginning where the film shows what something looks like to one person, and then what it looks like to Barrie is genius. It's sad, but sweet and happy at the same time. Love it!

Finding Neverland isn't worth your time because it takes way too long to actually get going. If only 30 minutes of its 100 minute running time is entertaining, you can't say that it's a good film. Yes, the final half hour is good, and yes, the ending is quite emotionally charged, but I was bored for the majority of the time the film was playing. Bored, or annoyed at the children, as they're all insufferable. The main cast is good, but this isn't a film that's terribly enjoyable.

Cute, but safe in every respect, Marc Foster's biopic is heavy on sentiment and light on just about everything else. If you're a director that can make Johnny Depp and Kate Winslet give utterly bland performances, you should just not be working anymore.

Sappy and sentimental take on the origins of Pan is well cast (especially former Pan alumni Hoffman), but has frustratingly little of interest to say as to why Barrie develops the somewhat strange connection he does with this family; having Christie's overstated and abrasive antagonist as the only pushback doesn't help matters. Might have been better than passable if the melodramatic (and at times laughable) illness plaguing Winslet didn't take such an overbearing presence in the second half.

I can't really tell much about the movie beside the fact that I enjoyed it. Johny Depp is brilliant, as usual, and Winslet didn't let me down either. I suggest it to anyone who has some imagination.

Finding Neverland really couldn't have been better than it was. It's just there's really nothing special about what it's saying or how it's saying it. It's just another drama that is merely good.

Johnny Depp as the author of Peter Pan, a interestingly delicate film with great work from its leading man, as well as Winslet, Dustin Hoffman and young Freddie Highmore. You will be swept away in this little gem of a real-life fairy tale about a fairy tale.

An understated but powerful film. The final scene between Barrie and Peter is one of the most beautiful performances. Certainly worth spending 90 minutes of your time and proves (as if it were necessary) that Johnny Depp is both courageous and undervalued as an actor.

Although it regains some steam towards the end, the schmaltz was a bit overwhelming throughout - everything seemed sanitized and produced to the point of not really meaning much. Maybe I watched this in too cynical a frame of mind, but while this was good (and featured a brilliant performance from Freddie Highmore), perhaps a more realistic, less sanitized take on Barrie's life would have made what magical moments there were even more magical.

Finding Neverland does a masterful job of illuminating the creative process. Real-life events are grasped by Barrie's imagination and brightly translated into scenes of fantasy. In his mind's eye, boys jumping up and down on their beds miraculously float out the window. Voilà! Peter Pan is born. So passionately consumed is he by the progression, and so alluring his faith in imagination, that others are drawn into its embrace. (pluggedin.com)

Schmaltzy garbage lies sold as truth designed to make you cry. It's funny, none of the dramatic moments in this "true life" drama ever actually happened. Like the wild success of A Million Little Pieces, shit like this pisses me off and to quote Peter Finch, "I'm mad as hell and I'm not going to take it anymore!" But I will say this for it: some of the fantasy sequences flash a brilliant visual imagination that Forster puts to better use in Stay. The pirate ship sequence is a real beauty.

A movie that employs every ingredient of a sunday Hollywood family melodrama and a suprisingly great technicality on top of that. Unfortunately this alternate reality (of Hollywood, not the Neverland) is not my cup of tea.

An incredibly efficient machine for making people cry. The audience I saw it with all blubbered unashamedly. For my part, I am entranced by the movie's portrayal of the original Victorian-era stage production of PETER PAN.

I almost didn't see this, because I cannot stand the Peter Pan story. I'm SO glad I did. It's a shame that Johnny Depp wastes his considerable talent on the Pirates of the Caribbean movies. Guess the money's too good to pass up. He is wonderful in this restrained performance, though his accent isn't pitch-prefect. This is the first role I've liked Kate Winslet in. And Porthos was AWESOME!

It's magical... Eloquent, charming and light-hearted in the most troubling times.. I rejoiced with the laughter, and wept with heavy tears in the sadness. I had put off seeing this movie until very recently (June 2008)... Now I do.. wonder... What my life would be, had I not seen it. Watching this was not seeing a movie, it was finding the small piece of Neverland that is buried in all of our hearts. Easily became one of my favorite movies of all time. 100/100.

a healthy drama. and simply touching in a very realistic way which you can easily accept that the story can be true (which is in fact real) and yet it doesn't beg you to believe it. this is what today's cinema needs, a pure drama without overaction and with some children in it.

I desperately wish we had understood more of Barrie's home life, but this is really a peak for both Marc Forster and Johnny Depp. They create an unrecognizable rift between imagination and reality and it feels magical. They prove that work can be play and that childhood never has to end. This one never ceases to be fun.

I'll tell you right now that I absolutely adore Peter Pan. When I was younger, it was my most sought-after Disney film. Here, my love for the masterpiece is rekindled with the story of how it came to be. Depp is great following his over-the-top Jack Sparrow with the reserved and thoughtful author J.M. Barrie. Other than these couple of things, though, Finding Neverland doesn't really excel beyond mostly goodness. Others may think it great or mediocre, I understand how it may go either way.

Not that great, pretty generic film. You get exactly what you'd expect, it doesn't rise above anything. It's a simple enough story, but I don't really know who this movie is for. It's too boring for kids, and it's too kiddie for adults. It doesn't know what the target demographic is, so it just hops back and forth and disappoints everyone. It's not really inspirational, and the message is very weak. I don't really know why people particularly like this.

It has its moments (the one scene that actually could be described as "magical" is when Barrie shows Slyvia Neverland), but this basically your run-of-the-mill Great Man Biopic, confined to the period of his life when he created his greatest work. Unabashedly sentimental, but not embarrassing.
