This flick is almost impossible to describe. On the surface it charts a lazy love triangle between three losers who are hitting 30 and haven't gone anywhere in life. But that leaves out the ghost, the quest to create the world's best haunted house, how not to open a box of Kleenex, the worst way to sell a porno magazine, the joys of used bookstores and the world's biggest, child-crushing chewing gum bubble. This introduced me to YosiYosi Arakawa, and I couldn't be happier for it. The man is funny in his bones. Typical Japanese-Quirky characters are well-realized with a surprising amount of humanity in their relationships with each other. I wish they did more with YosiYosi's character's horror-business pursuits, as they were easily the funniest parts. A good comedy with a little romance for a wide audience.

YosiYosi Arakawa exudes funny. Most of the film got a few chuckles out of me, the film sort of plays as a bunch of skits or clips of just absurd topics, similar to Naisu no Mori, but much more intact.

This is a really tranquil film, with sparks of absurdity and sudden silliness punctuating the mostly gentle humour of the film. There are some romantic elements as well that give the whole thing an atmosphere of warmth. It might almost be a bit too saccharine if it weren't so charmingly earnest.
