I thought this was a great movie when I was 12. I'm older now and this movie is awful. So, rent it if you're 12 and skip it otherwise.

The first half of this film seems to work pretty well as a spy thriller. But then it gets derailed by wonky sci-fi elements and boring flight sequences that really drag the film down.

I was a kid and super russian fighter jets were awesome. Remove the childish love and its fairly sub-par.

Dated and cliche now, this relic of the cold war in the 80's was a decent spy flick with a lot of sci fi thrown in. A jet fighter controlled by thought. "Think Russian!" Yeah, that will work. Even in 1982, the special effects were poor. Admitedly, as a 10 year old, I loved it.

Oh my God, how I wanted that jet when I was 7. Wait, there was a movie here?

It's a potent gimmik that Clint plays a the-best-man-we-have who is actually constantly frightened because of PTSD. Unfortunately, that characteristic is just something that happens to him and even becomes laughable when it keeps appearing without getting even slightly in the near of character- or storydevelopment. Besides that, Firefox is a very hard trying but generic and outdated movie in a way that left me wondering if it was already outdated on the day of it's release.

This movie has still a slight bonus for me from viewing it as child and loving it. The ending is crappy.

Coldwar espionage thriller, with some high-tech hardware and sfx thrown in for fun. Well-acted, well-plotted, and well-paced. The themes and subject matter haven't really stood up against time, though, as have the visuals. Still, i can think of a lot worse movies than this one.

Totally awesome movie about Clint Eastwood stealing an awesome plane from the Russians. The only big problem I have with it is the dogfighting scene between the two MiGs - it has a pathetic ending.

Very nostalgic love for this film. There's just something exciting about the idea of stealing a high tech jet fighter even if it is totally implausible.

I came in fully expecting one of Clint's corny early actioners, yet from the first frame it plunges in with bullet-paced tension executed with nothing more than masterful, imaginative, rhythmic editing. It continues as one of Clint's most dynamically and deliberately cinematic directorial efforts, a tense and dense thriller of consistent visual wit and stark, tireless pace.

A pretty slow-burning action film filled with much of Eastwood's sense of morality -- the Russian military are given as much screen time as Eastwood in Moscow, trying to get to the plane with the help of assets and already flying the Firefox through the sky. It's less patriotic than it seems and more focused on this tormented vet "voluntarily" assigned to steal the machine than on post-WWII politics. Still, the whole thing about the prototype being controlled by mind feels too underdeveloped.

Good pace and solid characters. The espionage part of the film is very tense and well-crafted. But very outdated second half of the film. The use of the Russian language is somewhat questionable too.

The first half of it is so good. A steely paranoia thriller marked by its terse "Papers please" atmosphere and truly brilliant cinematography, which mixes deep noir shadows with nauseating fluorescent lights to create a thoroughly oppressive atmosphere. Unfortunately, the movie loses me completely when Clint's character ends up piloting the titular jet fighter, which is mostly just dreadfully boring scenes of the Russians on the ground attempting to stop him.
